Domingo
Balaguer He began to play the harmonica approximately to the eleven years old during a school trip and since those days he is an enthusiast of this tiny instrument, he discovered what was accidentally the blues when listening somebody that emitted blues music and with the first blue harp that he saw in their life. Soon after then hooked to the blues, he has become one of the most important facets in his life. After collaborating and playing during the second part of the decade of the seventy and first of the eighty, in formations non professionals, in 1985 he started to be part of the "Caledonia Blues Band". Caledonia has been considered by the specialized critic as a legend band inside the national spanish blues, they have almost traveled the whole national territory participating in numerous festivals of Blues and Jazz during the ten years that have remained together. |
| After being dissolved "Caledonia Blues Band",
and after a brief parenthesis, Quique Bonal guitarist and also member
from Caledonia, and Mingo, we decide to meet again to form a new band
that begins to be gestated toward June of 1996,
"The
Blues Machine" He is also part of a called acoustic trio "Bluesville", constituted by two acoustic guitars, harmonica
and voice. The repertoire is inspired by the purest roots in the blues
and we move inside the field of the folk-blues and of the purest sound
in the blues from Mississipi, interpreting topics of big bluesmen like,
Muddy Waters, Sonny
Boy Williamson,
Little Walter,
Lightnin' Hopkins,
Sonny Terry &
Brownie Mc.Ghee etc. Bluesville began to work at the beginning of the
year 1995, and since then we have not stopped of playing, not alone
in local typical of blues, also numerous festivals and events related
with this gender.
It would be necessary to highlight our participation in the festival of
Blues of Antequera in 1997,en the cycle of concerts of "Jazz
en la Plaza Colón",
in Santa María's Port (August 1999) or in the "X
Festival de Jazz en la Provincia", in Cabezas
de San Juan (November
12 1999).
New year, new band. At the beginning of the 2000,
again next to Quique Bonal, "The
Blues Blasters" was formed, some partners that share band in "The
Blues Machine", Fernando Torres (bass) and Alberto Miras(keyboards)
and we incorporate two new members for this formation: the Australian
singer Brent Larkhem and the battery Xavier Reija that recently arrived
fromthe Berklee College of Music (Boston).
"The Blues Blasters" is a compact blues
band with a explosive live which his style decants so much for the electric
Blues of Chicago like for the West Californian Coast.
